Becca’s Place gymnasts set a new standard with an unprecedented state championship sweep

Becca’s Place Gymnastics’ competitive team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 Kentucky State Gymnastics Championships, held over two weekends this month (March 14-16 and March 21-23). In a historic first for the program, all five of Becca’s Place teams—Xcel Bronze (XB), Xcel Silver (XS), Xcel Gold, Xcel Platinum (XP), and Xcel Diamond (XD)—swept the state competition by earning first-place titles in their divisions. 

Additionally, 41 Becca’s Place gymnasts across multiple skill levels and age groups secured state championship titles, including 12 all-around champion titles, 10 vault champion titles, 16 uneven bars champion titles, 13 balance beam champion titles, and 21 floor event champion titles. 

In total, all 40 eligible gymnasts from the program qualified for regionals, where they will represent Kentucky and compete against athletes from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana.

“This team continues to exceed expectations every year,” said Jennifer Ryan, co-owner and head coach. “Watching these athletes push past their fears, perfect their skills, and achieve incredible results is the most rewarding experience. Even when things weren’t going their way, they remained committed to their team and to their gymnastics.”

Jessika Bohannon-Ferriss, co-owner and head coach, emphasized the incredible resilience and spirit of the athletes. “What these gymnasts accomplished is a testament to their unwavering dedication. Through challenges, setbacks, and triumphs, they showed up for each other, pushed through adversity, and gave their best. The lessons they’ve learned—discipline, perseverance, and teamwork—will stay with them long after their time in the gym.”
