January 30, 2024(April 7, 2023) – Becca’s Place Gymnastics announced last night that Olympic silver medalist, World champion, and collegiate gymnastic powerhouse Jordan Chiles will be making a visit to the Cecilia gymnastics center this summer. Chiles will guest coach the competitive team at the center’s annual gymnastics camp. Owners and head coaches Jennifer Ryan and Jessika Bohannon-Ferris made the announcement at the end of last night’s practice with more than 100 competitive gymnasts and their parents in attendance for the big reveal.
Chiles is a member of the United States Olympic team that won silver at the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. She is also a member of the U.S. team that brought home gold at the 2022 World Gymnastics Championship and is the reigning world silver medalist on vault and floor.
Chiles currently competes for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) women’s gymnastics team, receiving several perfect 10 scores on floor and uneven bars. She is slated to compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) women’s gymnastics championship in August, after which she will take a hiatus from college gymnastics to train and compete for a spot on the U.S. Women’s gymnastics team at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“The news was met with great excitement,” said Bohannon-Ferris. “To these young ladies and us, Chiles is gymnastics royalty and one of the most popular gymnasts of all time. She is one of Simone Biles’s closest friends and trains at her gym, World Champion Centre, in Texas.”
Ryan added that in addition to coaching from the gymnastics legend, the team will partner with Chiles to raise money for local charities that are aligned with causes about which she is passionate.
“We’ll be announcing details about those fundraisers soon,” said Ryan “Service to others is one of our core values so it’s very important that we find ways to give back to our community, and we are excited to partner with Jordan to do that.”
The announcement of Chiles’ upcoming visit comes on the heels of the competitive team’s record-setting performance at this year’s state gymnastics championship where 45 Becca’s Place gymnasts of various skill levels and age groups won state championships, including 20 all-around champion titles, 13 vault champion titles, 21 uneven bars champion titles, 19 balance beam champion titles, and 12 floor event champion titles.
Additionally, all of Becca’s teams at seven competitive levels placed within the top four in the state, with four teams placing first. Seventy-two gymnasts in the program also qualified for regionals where they will represent Kentucky and compete against gymnasts from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana.
